The film is constructed frame by frame from water-damaged, buckled paper, evoking a sense of distance from the American Dream and stardust. Between statues that symbolize immigrants and flowing strands of hair, the work responds to the chance and disruptions inherent in candid snapshot photography: dust on the lens, a strand of hair caught across it. These accidental traces become markers of the artist’s presence. By intentionally reconstructing subjects obscured by such disruptions and pairing them with subconscious monologues, the film draws viewers into an American Dream that has become distant, intangible, and perhaps impossible to grasp.
